Q1. Can I apply to sit any of the examinations or do I have to start with the preliminary examination?

A: Candidates can apply to sit any examination at any level. However, they should take care not to apply for examinations that are scheduled to take place at the same time.
 
Q2. Where can I find the IFE Examination Syllabus and Reading List?
 
Q3. What is the best way of studying to sit the examinations?
A: Candidates are responsible for making their own arrangements for study. However, the Institution offers comprehensive guidance for candidates in study skills and in examination techniques.
 
Q4. Can I obtain copies of past examination papers?
A: Yes*, please download the Examination Markers Reports in order to view previous years questions and suggested answers * The IFE cannot supply past papers for the Level 2 Certificate or the Level 3 Certificate examinations.
 
Q5. Does IFE provide courses leading towards the examinations?
A: IFE does not provide courses or training.

Q10. When will I receive confirmation of the examination and the examination centre?
A: Confirmation letters, including information on the allocated examination centre and general instructions to candidates, will be posted to all candidates by 31 January.
 
Q11. How do I change my preferred examination centre?
A: The IFE cannot guarantee to allocate candidates to their preferred centre. However, if you wish to change the centre specified on your application form, please write to the IFE Examinations Officer (by letter, fax or email to info@ife.org.my) with your request to that effect by 31 December. Candidates applying through a local branch should contact the local branch.
 
Q12. Can I defer my examination to the following year?
A: Candidates may defer their examination(s) in accordance with the following policy:

  • All fees are non refundable.
  • Deferral requests must be in writing by letter, fax or e-mail. Candidates should specify a valid reason for making the request; for example a medical condition confirmed by a certificate. (Lack of study time is not accepted as a valid reason.)
  • Candidates can defer for one year only.
Q13. When will I receive my examination result/certificate?
A: Results letters will be posted to all candidates at the end of June or very soon afterwards. Successful candidates will receive their certificates with the results letter. Results cannot be given out over the telephone or sent by fax or email.
 
Q14. I have passed the IFE Level 3 Certificate examination. Can I apply for Technician grade?
A: The Level 3 Certificate examination fulfils the academic part of the requirement for Technician grade of membership. There is also a training/experience requirement.
 
Q15. Is there an appeals procedure?
 
Q16. I have four IFE Level 3 Diploma examination passes (including the compulsory papers), can I apply for Graduate grade?
A: Four required passes at Level 3 Diploma if achieved within a five year period, fulfil the academic part of the requirement for Graduate grade of membership.
 
Q17. I have four IFE Level 4 Certificate examination passes (including the compulsory papers), can I apply for Member grade?
A: Four required passes at Level 4 Certificate, if achieved within a five year period, fulfil the academic part of the requirement for Member grade of membership.
