As candidates pass each examination paper they complete an Ofqual accredited unit within the IFE Level 3 Diploma, viz:-

  • Fire Engineering Science: mandatory paper common to all three qualifications (D/502/3112)
  • Aero Fire Studies: (T/502/3116)

This is because the take up for the other two qualifications is comparatively low and Ofqual expects awarding bodies to review qualifications where there is an issue. There will be a period of widespread consultation before a decision is reached and as stated above, any resultant changes will be effected no earlier than 2013.
